Fernando Llort
El Salvador has a rich history of arts. El Salvador has been making art since it was part of the Mayan civilization. El Salvador has had many great artists like Fernando Llort and Alvaro Torres. Fernando Llort has been making art since the 1970s, taking the Mayan and modern arts. His art created a naive Mayan style art. He used to paint on wood, ceramic, and even glass. He was born on April 7th, 1949, and quickly realized his passion for art. Fernando had a passion for art since he was a little boy, making drawings on the back of his school notebooks. In the 1960s, he was involved in the “Hippie” movement and he had a big inclination towards religious practice, he took it so seriously, he later became a priest in a catholic church, but he would later withdraw. In the 1970s, he created a band called “La Banda Del Sol” because of his love for music, and it was a chapter in his life that stayed there for a very long time. He later created a workshop near La Palma in El Salvador, which started his journey as an artist. It was at this time where he started painting and teaching people around La Palma. Fernando's dream was simple: he wanted to be an artist and paint murals in many cities. He wanted to make a life out of painting with a strong influence from God. His work grew to unimaginable proportions more than he could dream of, some of his art pieces were “The facade of the metropolitan cathedral of San Salvador” and “La Semilla” are just a few of the art pieces he created. He would later die in 2018, but his art still lives on the walls he painted.
